Predation mitigation

In the near future, we intend to address pinniped (seals and sea lions), and bird predation of our juvenile salmon through the use of non-lethal measures. We believe predation of young salmon, along with habitat degradation, are the primary threats to the survival of Puget Sound salmon. Without an intense and proactive focus on this issue, no amount of conservation or hatchery production will save Puget Sound salmon.

Hatchery Production

FNW plans to directly support hatchery production of chinook salmon in south Puget Sound and hopes to establish an identical program in the San Juan’s.

Habitat Restoration

FNW will seek to partner with organizations currently engaged in habitat restoration projects intended to enhance the survival of juvenile salmon.
